Ecological Consultancy I prepare and evaluate ecological impact assessment reports for major infrastructure projects across Turkey, particularly wind farms, but also motorways, airports and pipelines. I have specialised in the impact of wind farms on birds and bats, and partnered with Emrah Çoraman to develop most advanced surveys. I collaborate with a team of skilled field biologists, expert zoologists and botanists. I ensure highest quality of work by using internationally accepted methodology and equipment.

enter site Environmental regulations of project finance can be the key factor for the protection of natural capital. I help those projects to comply with highest international standards for environment, requested by International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group, European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and other international funding agencies. Usually I am hired by large international consultancy companies, but also directly by companies. Please visit my LinkedIn profile for the complete list of projects.

watch I started my conservation career as a volunteer of DHKD, the former pioneer nature conservation NGO of Turkey, at age 13. I was particularly influenced by the Important Bird Area programme, which connects people to nature in a unique way.

follow url Luckily, I started my career at BirdLife International’s regional office in Quito, Ecuador as the IBA officer and published a regional inventory of biodiversity conservation sites, across the Andean countries among the BirdLife Conservation Series. Since 2009 I have been working on several projects at WWF-Turkey as associate scientist. I collaborated on an education project on the Black Sea, an ecological footprint project for Turkey, the conservation of Common Crane in Adana and Turkish Breeding Bird Atlas. I played a critical role on the development of the Crane project, in which we found the roosting sites that host over 95% of the national populations. Beside that I advise them in strategic issues regarding Ramsar sites, potential scientific collaborators and field trips for fundraising.

Ornithology I enjoyed organising people, as much as birding.  I am the founding members of birdwatching clubs in my highschool, and at the Middle East Technical University. Between 2007-2012, I have been the secretary of the İstanbul Birdwatching Club (İKGT). During my seat, the club organised scheduled meetings and excursions, increased the participating members, reorganised mid-winter waterfowl counts, published two bird reports and organised two spring census for raptors. I contributed significantly to the rising number of birdwatchers in Turkey by translating two field guides in Turkish. During my translation work, I got involved in the compliation and creation of bird names in Turkish, working with my colleague Sancar Barış and the National Geographic Magazine in Turkey. Until today over 2500 species has been named in the world checklist. A website will follow soon.

como conocer gente nueva en mi ciudad As an ecologist with data skills, I try to collect, analyse and publish all available bird data, to convert them into conservation action. Mid-winter Waterbird Counts have been the longest bird monitoring scheme since 1967. Between 2010 and 2012 I collaborated to consolidate the methodology and participaton, co-developed the main database of all counts. and standardised the counting stations at over 100 sites.

rencontres paris 12 I have been working as the administrator of Kuşbank is the online data collection platform. Kuşbank moved to eBird in 2014 and has been the base for citizen science projects, such as the Breeding Bird Atlas and Mid-winter Waterbird Counts. To improve data validation on eBird, I became the founding member of the Turkish Bird Record Committee, co-managing Turkish eBird portal, working with 10 reviewers, keeping Turkish checklist of birds, and publishing regular reports and manage its website.

My project, the Turkish Breeding Bird Atlas is still under progress.

I am a licensed tourist guide and the co-founder of the Birdwatch Turkey venture to operate and guide bird watching tours for international agencies. In July 2016 I have stepped out of the business after the big crisis of tourism in Turkey.
